There were contradicting reports on whether rapper/producer Timbaland attempted suicide on Tuesday after he went missing. But LA sheriff’s department officials tells Access Hollywood there were no suicide attempt, stating they were only contacted to help locate the Grammy Award winner.
Timbaland’s family reported the “Way I Are” rapper missing after they were unable to locate him Tuesday evening. Family members expressed concern about him after some of his jewelry went missing and he left his home, department spokesman Steve Whitmore tells AccessHollywood.
Whitmore said reports of a manhunt for Timbaland are “significantly overblown” and a helicopter was used to locate the hit producer because it was already in the Malibu area; the same area where Timbaland was eventually found.
Early Wednesday morning, Ryan Seacrest told listeners on his LA radio morning show, “On Air With Ryan Seacrest,” that he heard Timbaland had attempted suicide, later tweeting “Got word my friend timbaland attempted suicide. I am hearing now that is not true that [he] is ok!!”
Authorities are investigating the alleged theft of Timbaland’s missing jewelry.
