High heels often mean blisters, soreness and swelling. Below are few good tips from Tina Aldatz, Certified Pedorthist and President of Foot Petals.
First, choose the right shoe for you.
* A thicker heel's always better, as your weight is evenly distributed.
* Hidden platforms are a plus to reduce pressure.
* An open, strappy shoe lets your feet breathe, as they tend to swell throughout the day.
For a particularly marathon-like day, flex your feet periodically the few days before to stretch your calves and those dreaded leg cramps. If you're really serious, follow this track runners' secret: Spray top and bottom of foot with an anti-perspirant and anywhere a strap will rub against your skin. It creates a barrier to prevent blisters. Aldatz swears by Secret, but any anti-perspirant will do the trick.
Finally, if you love the socks and sandals trend, make sure yours are not 100% cotton, which get soggy and stretched out. Look for a little lycra or spandex, so the sock will cling to your skin and stay in place.
