Toni Braxton is having some financial problems. It's so bad, she's reportedly filed for bankruptcy, claiming she up to $50 million in debt.
According to
TMZ, the 43-year-old recently filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in California, claiming she's only worth up to maybe $10 million, but could have up to $50 million in debts.
Some of the various creditors she owes money to, according to docs that TMZ got a hold of, include AT&T, The Four Seasons Hotels, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, DirecTV, Neiman Marcus, Tiffany & Co., Orkin Pest Control, Flamingo Las Vegas, credit card companies, banks, and the IRS.
Braxton also claims she may owe money to the City of L.A. Parking Violations Bureau -- and the DMV in both California and Nevada.
Despite selling millions of albums over her nearly 20-year music career, she's struggled with money problems in the past.
Braxton famously filed for bankruptcy protection in 1998, after launching a lawsuit against her then-label, LaFace Records. Back in 2009, reports surfaced of
debts to the IRS, indicating that the singer and her husband Keirston Lewis owned nearly $80,000 in unpaid taxes.
Also in 2009, the singer
filed a lawsuit against insurance company, Lloyd's of London, claiming they refused to pay for losses at her Flamingo Hotel concert after she missed dates due to a heart condition. Due to Lloyd's refusing to pay, Braxton herself was left to absorb the losses from her Vegas show.
